Marijuana is an addictive mind-altering psychoactive drug and is the most commonly used illicit drug in Arizona. The main active chemical is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but there are about 400 other chemicals that can be in marijuana, drastically effecting a person's health.
According to the 2018 Arizona Youth Survey, 1 out of 6 8th graders, 32% of 10th graders, and nearly half (44.2%) of 12th graders say they have smoked marijuana at least once in their lifetime.
