Prevention & Early Intervention

Prevention and early intervention efforts promote informed decision-making and healthy behaviors. The Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family is working to increase awareness of substance use issues and to connect communities, families, schools, and organizations with needed prevention materials and guidance. The Arizona Substance Abuse Prevention Website was developed by the Arizona Substance Abuse Partnership's Community Outreach and Training Workgroup in partnership with the Arizona National Guard Counter Drug Task Force.

These prevention efforts focus on 4 strategies:

Strategy 1:

Reduce illicit acquisition and diversion of drugs

Strategy 2:

Promote responsible prescribing and dispensing policies and practices

Strategy 3:

Increase public awareness and education about drug misuse and abuse

Strategy 4:

Enhance assessment and referral to substance abuse treatment

By offering concrete strategies, this comprehensive resource site provides the tools needed to prevent and reduce misuse of Opioids, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Marijuana, Cocaine, E-Cigarettes and Vaporizers, and offers direct treatment options through the SAMHSA treatment facility locator tool. Whether you're a concerned parent, a coalition program director, a school counselor, or a local business, the tabs above will direct you to specified materials and resources that have been vetted and will give you direct access to your area of concern.
